Scuba Certification in Idaho

Idaho is usually known for producing more potatoes than any other state, not its scuba diving. However, Idaho still has some interesting spots to dive. Honeysuckle Beach and Sanders Beach are two of the best local dive spots in Idaho. There are several options to choose from for divers of any experience level. Some dive sites may have special requirements or regulations, so be sure to check site-specific rules before planning a dive.

Scuba Diving Requirements in Idaho

Idaho law does not require divers to be certified. However, the training that the scuba certification process provides is invaluable to any diver. Certification training helps you understand how to stay safe while diving, and how to look out for those diving with you. As such, it is highly recommended that all divers obtain their scuba certification before diving in Idaho.

There are a limited number of regulations for divers and vessel operators, but we recommend the following in addition to the requirements :

  • Boaters are required to stay at least 100 feet from a dive flag (Diver Down Flag or Alpha Flag)
  • It is recommended that all divers use a red dive flag with white diagonal stripe while diving
  • It is recommended that divers stay within 100 feet of their dive flag
